Merranda is one of my many grandchildren and a favorite model for many of my cards. She has enjoyed getting them from me since she was this little. She has been keeping her cards safe in little albums. She must have hundreds of cards.
I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us — don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!
This was my favorite poem when I was a little girl. And this is how I felt- invisible and unnoticed.
Some time ago I happened upon a recording that was made of me reciting those words and it brought back a rush of feelings that I had experienced as a child.
I started my postcard project in the hopes that no person would feel forgotten.
Here I am many years ago. I loved it whenever someone took the time to do something special just for me.
I am no longer the sad little girl I once was. These six people, all grown up now, Make me feel loved and needed. And they've given me 12 awesome grandchildren!
